Bruno Pedrosa was born in Ceará in the north east of Brazil. He decided at a young age already that he wanted to become an artist. In 1967 he moved to Rio de Janeiro where he graduated at the National Academy of Visual Arts, as well as from the faculty of Archaeology and Philosophy. Already during his studies Bruno started exhibiting and quickly grew out as one of the most important Brazilian figurative painters, known for his realistic drawings and paintings. Despite the comfortable position that resulted out of this quick success, the artist dared to continue his artistic quest in life by for example examining European Modern Art in depth. The outcome was a unique signature in his work that we know today, where he manages to create a clear visual artistic language.

In 1990 Pedrosa and his family moved to Bassano del Grappa, near to Venice (Italy). He started experimenting with Murano-glass and became fascinated by the versatility of this material, where he approached the glass initially as a three-dimensional canvas. In 2005 he had a breakthrough in his artistic development: he started making his first sculptures of bronze and used the Murano glass on a very unconventional way to realize his sculptures. He sculpted with blocks of ‘fused’ Murano glass like it was marble. As well collectors as art critics welcomed this development with enthusiasm en he was invited to give a retrospective in the prestigious Basilica Palladiana in Venice in 2006, and in 2007 for a solo exhibition in the Museo Municipal de Arte Contemporáneo en Vidrio de Alcorcón, near Madrid (Spanje).
